Trump Calls Twitter's Trending Feature "Illegal... Very Unfair"
President Trump went after tech-giant Twitter Monday via of all things... twitter. While the President has accused the tech giant of shadowbanning and censoring in the past - Monday's tweet instead took aim at Twitter's trending feature which often features hashtags critical of the President. It is important to note that Twitter's trending feature organizes tweets based on spikes in discussion around specific hashtags or words being used on the platform, therefore Twitter is not responsible for the content that appears.
"So disgusting to watch Twitter's so-called 'Trending', where sooo many trends are about me, and never a good one.", tweeted the President "They look for anything they can find, make it look as bad as possible, and blow it up, trying to make it trend." The President went on to question the legality of the popular Twitter feature saying, "Really it is ridiculous, illegal and, of course, very unfair!'
There are no current calls to investigate the legality of Twitter's trending feature and the President claims appear illegitimate on a surface level. Whether this is the last we'll hear from Trump regarding the feature is unknown. It is worth remembering however following the President's last feud with the company in May, he signed an executive order targeting the company over censorship.
